How we look after your details.
What we collect
When you enquire or book, we usually have your name, phone number, the address where the sit will take place, and details about your pet: their name, breed or type, age, routine, health notes, vet contact and any behavioural quirks. We also keep the dates of your booking and the messages we exchange.
If you apply to join us as a sitter, we'll collect your contact details, references, insurance information and DBS status.
Why we collect it
We use this information to arrange your sit, match you with the right sitter, keep you updated while you're away, and respond if anything needs our attention during the booking. Phone numbers and addresses let us reach you and let the sitter do their job. Pet details help us care for your animal properly.
Our legal basis for processing is that it's necessary to provide the service you've asked for, and sometimes to take steps before forming a contract with you.
Who we share it with
We share your details only with the Fetch Travels sitter assigned to your booking, and only what they need to do the sit safely and well. We do not sell your information, and we don't share it with unrelated third parties for marketing.
Many of our client conversations happen on WhatsApp. Messages you send us there are processed by Meta Platforms, Inc. as the WhatsApp service provider, and are stored on your device and ours. We treat WhatsApp messages with the same care as information submitted through the website.
How long we keep it
We keep your details for as long as needed to complete your sit and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you book again or any follow-up question arises. If you haven't booked with us for a couple of years, we'll routinely delete identifiable enquiry records, unless we're required to keep them for legal, insurance or tax reasons.
How we keep it safe
We store records using password-protected accounts and access-limiting tools. Sitters receive only the information they need, and we ask them not to keep your details on personal devices once the sit is complete.
No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse or unauthorised access.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors move around the site, for example, which pages are read most. This data is anonymous and doesn't let us identify you personally. You can block analytics cookies through your browser settings if you prefer.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- show you what information we hold about you
- correct anything that's wrong or out of date
- delete your information where there's no good reason for us to keep it
- object to how we're using it, or restrict its use while we look into something
If you'd like to exercise any of these rights, just message or email us and we'll sort it out as quickly as we can.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time as our services or the rules around data protection change. The current version will always be available on this page.
