Insurance
You're covered while you're away.
Our cover at a glance
Fetch Travels holds insurance through Protectivity, a specialist insurer for pet sitters, dog walkers and pet care professionals. Our cover is tailored to the in-home pet sitting, house sitting and daycare services we provide.
In addition, every freelance sitter who works with us is required to hold their own pet sitting and public liability insurance before they are assigned to a booking.
This means there are two layers of protection in place: cover held by Fetch Travels as the business, and independent cover held by the individual sitter caring for your home and pet.
What the insurance covers
- Public liability while a sitter is in your home or walking your dog
- Accidental damage to your property caused by the sitter during the booking
- Care, custody and control of your pet while under the sitter's supervision
- Key cover, where included in the sitter's policy
Exact policy limits and wording vary between insurers, and we are happy to share a summary of cover on request.
What isn't covered
Insurance is there for genuine accidents and negligence, not for everyday wear and tear or pre-existing issues. It does not normally cover:
- Damage that existed before the sit began
- Loss or illness linked to a pre-existing health condition not disclosed to us
- Valuables not stored securely, or loss where no negligence is established
- Events outside anyone's reasonable control, such as severe weather or civil disruption
Sitter vetting and documentation
Before any sitter joins the Fetch Travels network, we ask to see their insurance certificate or confirmation of cover, and we check that it is current and appropriate for the work they will be doing. We also carry out reference checks, background checks and a full interview.
If you would like to see a sitter's insurance details before your booking is confirmed, just ask. We're glad to share the relevant summary.
If something goes wrong
We hope it never comes to it, but if an incident happens during a sit, we ask you to tell us as soon as you can. We'll document what happened, speak to the sitter, and work with you and the insurer to resolve things fairly.
For anything urgent or outside normal hours, WhatsApp is usually the fastest way to reach us.
